Lee-Lee

Elysie Inina "Lee-Lee" Blake is a 25-year old graduate student working on a doctorate in metaphysical studies.  She is the middle child with an older sister and a younger brother, and her father has her on a tight budget because he doesn't approve of her education and career choice. However, Lee-Lee's mother, Auryn, is determined that Lee-Lee will have the education she wants and be able to live the life that she chooses. Lee-Lee majored in history and women's studies and wants to be a professor. She is a lesbian who has yet to come out, and is a bright, inquisitive young woman who takes her education seriously.

Lee-Lee typically isn't very assertive and sometimes finds herself in awkward situations. But the events that take place in her apartment building are instrumental in Lee-Lee's growth, development and confidence.

Lee-Lee shares Loft Six-B with Monica Tierney.  She's environmentally-conscious and prefers to ride her bike, a bright yellow GMC Denali, everywhere. She loves to read and studies often on the grassy knolls around Atlantic Station to get away from Jo and Neveyah's loud music. Lee-Lee has a green thumb and enjoys growing things; she has a small garden on the balcony and plants all around the house.

Lee-Lee is enrolled at Georgia State University, where she's currently finishing her comprehensive exams and conducting research for her dissertation. She is a graduate assistant for Dr. A. R. Waters.

Lee-Lee's father, Rayner Blake, owns and manages several stores. He wanted Lee-Lee, the daughter he believes to have the most potential, to be a physician. When his eldest daughter, Malaya, dropped out of school to become a wife and mother, Rayner shifted his plans for her onto Lee-Lee. He is not happy with her choices, and he really isn't happy that she barely speaks to him anymore.

Dr. Annette Richardson Waters is a professor of history and women's studies at Georgia State University. She is a highly-respected pioneer in metaphysical research and the author of several books and a multitude of articles. Dr. Waters is Lee-Lee's mentor, confidant, and major professor.
